SPECIALTIES

While I consider myself a well-rounded therapist, with many years of experience working with a variety of presenting problems, there are several areas that I have dedicated my professional practice to treating. These areas are ones that I have attended many hours of workshops and continuing education learning more about so that I can be the most helpful to those seeking guidance in these areas.

Life Transitions

Transitions are a part of life. As we grow, we live through major milestones: child to adolescent to young adult, single to a relationship, parent to empty nesters, career changes, etc. While many of these transitions of life are to be celebrated, they also present unique challenges as we adjust to our new "normal". Often, it is beneficial to work through the unique struggles presented by the major life changes with someone who can guide and support you through these times.

Women’s Issues

Women face specific issues that often make life feel overwhelming. Negotiating the work/family/individual life balance can be tough. Having a safe space to work through the unique challenges women face can help you feel more empowered in your own life. There are many demands on our time in life, and often, having a support system in place is key to maintaining a happy balance.

Relationship Challenges

The relationships we have with other people, whether it's friends, loved ones, significant others, etc., play an important role in our daily lives. When those relationships face challenges, the impact on our overall well-being can be significantly impacted. I can provide you with tools to guide you through important ways relationship challenges can improve.

Parenting

Becoming a parent is one of the most exciting times of life. But in today's society, parenting has become more difficult as the demands of life become greater. Raising children presents challenges in many areas: the rising cost of child care, work-life balance, navigating through your child or teens social and academic life can all present parents with an overwhelming sense of responsibility. An experienced family therapist can assist you on your journey to making parenting a joyous time of life.

Mood and Anxiety Disorders

Life can be challenging. Often, tasks of daily living can become overwhelming. You may notice that you don't enjoy things the way you used to, or that the stress of a situation seems to be more difficult than it had been. Sometimes, talking through these challenges with an experienced therapist can give you insights that you may not have considered before. I can help you discover patterns of behavior that might be getting in the way of living life to the fullest.
